The Farm and Local Activities
Minimbah Farm is 150 acres of beautiful scenic farmland, featuring it’s own flowing creek, amazing views with almost endless grass paddocks backing onto lush rainforest. It is a fully operational beef cattle property also with goats, alpacas, horses, chickens, peacocks and abundant wildlife.
Aside from being a lovely setting for peaceful getaways and happy get-togethers, Minimbah has also provided a great environment for a diverse selection of events over the last few years. These include weddings, birthday parties, meditation retreats, drumming groups, company/corporate training sessions, educational workshops, outdoor photo shoots for catalogues and cookbooks, and even advertisements and feature films for TV!
On arrival, you will probably be greeted by our little jack russell dogs Chloe and Laska. You are welcome to help yourselves to some of our ‘Kangaroo Valley Show’ award winning eggs from the chook house, up the hill behind the Cottage, as well as any fruit from the many lemon, orange, mandarin and peach trees that you see on the farm.
You can feed the goats and alpacas with the food we leave for you in a container on the verandah. Also, there is a hay boxes on the road, to feed: The goats – Yukka and Allo; The alpacas – Francio and Braddio; and The mini belted galloway cattle – Crispy and Chunky. We also have a cheeky pony – Bungey and a handsome horse – Paddy.
You are welcome to go for walks over the property, see the Minimbah farm map below. Keep a look out for the great variety of wildlife on the farm too – Echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, wallabies, lizards, parrots, kookaburras, magpies, cockatoos. And … a $200 future discount voucher goes to anyone who can get a photo or video of ‘Felix’ the platypus!! He lives in the creek just behind the BBQ, however, he hasn’t been seen for a while.
Nugents creek, which runs through Minimbah Farm, is the old town water supply and a short distance along the road that runs adjacent to the creek is the original weir. There is a great bbq down by the creek with an oven, a picnic table and chairs and enough open space for a game of cricket or a bit of footy on the lush creekside pastures. Minimbah Farm also has a humble little ‘hack around’ golf course with clubs and balls provided.
